The hamlet of Sugar Loaf is a community of artisans, boutique shops, dining and a world class performing arts center all nestled under Sugar Loaf Mountain in picturesque Warwick Valley, Orange County, New York.
Surrounded by apple orchards, wineries and horse farms, the eclectic and charming village was transformed into a thriving crafts center in the 1970s by the hard work of a handful of dedicated artisans. Today, Sugar Loaf remains true to its heritage as the year round home to dozens of independent business men and women. Many of these artisans live and work in the original barns and buildings which date back to the 1700’s.
Sugar Loaf has an outstanding selection of handmade art, crafts and gifts. Our unique shops offer a broad range of artistic items from oil and acrylic paintings, water color, stained glass, black & white and color photography, pottery, antiques, jewelry, woodworks, candles, soap, sculpture and much much more.
You’ll find everything in Sugar Loaf within easy strolling distance; there are specialty and gift shops, pottery, art and photography studios. Spend the day browsing though our wonderful collection of shops, bring a camera or sketch pad and create your own impressions, Sugar Loaf’s beautiful surroundings will release your creative energies! Then stop at one of our fine restaurants for a great meal, quick snack or a refreshing drinks.

GPS Users:
For GPS directions use: 1371 Kings Hwy. Chester, NY 10918
(“Sugar Loaf” does not register on GPS)
From NY City:
Take Palisades Parkway, to Route 6 West, or the New York Thruway to Exit 16 and Route 17 West, 8 miles to Exit 127. Turn Left. Follow the signs to Sugar Loaf.
From Northern New Jersey:
Take the Garden State Parkway or Route 17 North to the New York State Thruway (toward Albany) to Exit 16 and Route 17 West, 8 miles to Exit 127. Turn left. Follow the signs to Sugar Loaf. Or take Route 23 North to Route 94 through Vernon to Warwick. At the Mobil Station make a right onto Colonial Avenue (County Route 13) and proceed 6 miles to Sugar Loaf.
From Connecticut, Pennsylvania and upstate New York:
Take Route 84 to Exit 4E, then Route 17 East to Exit 126. Make a left, then go through 2 quick lights, and turn right onto 17M East, by McDonald’s. Next light, make a right onto County Route 13, also known as Kings Highway, and follow signs to Sugar Loaf.
